I do crafts with the residents of local nursing homes and try (not too successfully I’m afraid) to raise awareness of their plight. They are truly our “forgotten citizens”. The saddest part is what they need the most is our time not our dollars yet it is easier to get someone to shell out some money than to spend time with them.

I led a lost young woman, visiting the U.S. from India, back to the building where her friends lived. She was about a 1/4 mile away from her destination.
I was at Waves Internet Coffee House surfing when I read my email from EarlyToRise pointing to your site. I came here to see what the fuss was about. Still don’t know how to use or what I’m looking at…
Then a woman sits down beside me and I help her plug in her laptop. [does that count as an act of kindness?] Then her mother shows up and we talked and she [the mother] was trying to determine the best route to gain English conversation skills. She wanted to get a job somewhere to do this. After some brainstorming, I told her that volunteering was her best option.

Thank you for these color charts! We are providing color wheel training for the rural areas of Winston County, Alabama School System. These schools and children do not have any formal art training or classes in their schools. Even though the teachers try to incorporate as much art and crafts into the regular class structure, these students do not have any fine arts exposure or training in the visual, fine arts music and performances or theatre. There is very little community theatre and/or art galleries (most of which is too far to travel to now with the gas prices.)
